Travel & Transport

Domestic flights, road transfers, rail, and ferry — everything you need to move around Kenya with confidence.

Safari routes

All safari park flights depart from Wilson Airport (WIL), Nairobi. Flights are on small propeller aircraft seating 5–12 passengers. Luggage is strictly limited — soft bags only — 15kg (33lbs) maximum.

Airlines and prices shown alongside are a sample — availability and fares change seasonally. We'll help you find and book the right flight for your itinerary.

Airstrips
Ol Kiombo, Keekorok, Musiara, Angama

The most popular domestic route in Kenya. Multiple airlines operate scheduled flights throughout the day. Different camps use different airstrips — confirm which airstrip your lodge uses before booking. Scenic flight over the Rift Valley.

Nairobi → Amboseli

Wilson Airport → Amboseli Airport

$90–$160 one way
Flight Time
40 min
Departures
Daily (morning)
Views
Kilimanjaro on clear days

A short, scenic hop south toward Tanzania. On a clear day you'll see Kilimanjaro from the aircraft. Most camps arrange transfers from the airstrip. Road transfer from Nairobi is also possible (4–5 hrs) if you prefer.

Nairobi → Samburu

Wilson Airport → Samburu Airport

Flight Time
50–60 min

Region
Northern Kenya

Flights head north over the Rift Valley and semi-arid scrubland. Samburu is a dramatic landscape change from the Mara — drier, more rugged, with the Ewaso Nyiro river running through it. Often combined with Laikipia on multi-park circuits.

Nairobi → Laikipia / Nanyuki

Wilson Airport → Nanyuki Airport

$90–$150 one way
Flight Time

Altitude
~2,000m — cool climate

Nanyuki is the gateway to both Laikipia Plateau conservancies and Mount Kenya. Many private conservancies (Borana, Lewa, Ol Pejeta) have their own airstrips served by charter. Scheduled flights land at Nanyuki with camp transfers arranged separately.

Nairobi → Tsavo

Wilson Airport → Tsavo East / West Airstrips

$130–$200 one way
Flight Time
55–70 min
Departures
Limited — charter recommended
Airstrips

Scheduled services to Tsavo are limited — most visitors use charter flights or drive from Nairobi (4–5 hrs via Mombasa road). Tsavo is also commonly combined with Diani on a fly-in trip: fly Nairobi → Tsavo, then Tsavo → Diani by air or road.
