Summit Point Lenana, then drop into the Samburu frontier.
Africa's second-highest mountain, then the arid north that most Kenya itineraries skip entirely. Three days trekking to Point Lenana at 4,985m via the Sirimon and Chogoria routes, recovery on a Laikipia conservancy with rhino tracking and night drives, and a finish in Samburu among species that live nowhere else in the country.
Day 1
Arrive JKIA.
Transfer to hotel.

Early dinner and rest.
Day 2
Drive Nairobi → Nanyuki (3.5 hrs).
Equator crossing stop.
Afternoon acclimatization walk in the foothills.
Lodge dinner with Mount Kenya views.
Day 3
Trek Old Moses Camp → Shipton's Camp via the Mackinder Valley.
Giant lobelias and groundsel through the moorland.
Camp at 4,200m. Acclimatization walk before dinner.
Day 4
2am start for Point Lenana (4,985m) — sunrise on the summit.
Descend via the Chogoria route to Mintos Camp.
Hot meal, and a long sleep at lower altitude.
Day 5
Day 6
Rhino tracking on foot with conservancy rangers.
Afternoon at leisure — horse riding, mountain biking, or the pool.
Night drive — aardvark, porcupine, striped hyena.
Day 7
Morning game drive and a visit to the anti-poaching K9 unit.
Transfer or fly to Samburu National Reserve.
Afternoon drive along the Ewaso Nyiro — reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, gerenuk.
Day 8
Dawn drive tracking leopard along the riverine forest.
Camel trek with Samburu warriors and a bush lunch.
Sundowner on a rocky outcrop. Farewell dinner.
Day 9
Final morning drive.
Fly Samburu → Wilson (1 hr 15m).
Day room in Nairobi, then JKIA for departure.
