Tsavo is Kenya's largest wilderness area, split into Tsavo East and Tsavo West National Parks by the Nairobi-Mombasa highway. Together they cover an astounding 21,000 km²—one of the world's largest protected areas. Famous for its red elephants (dusted with ochre soil), dramatic landscapes, and untamed wilderness, Tsavo offers authentic African safari experiences away from the tourist crowds.
